A pure bred Louisiana Catalhoula Hound is in need of a responsible dog owner. This beautiful dog is to be put to sleep in the next few days. Luigi has been causing problems after owner left out of town for work and then fell ill and has been unable to return. Caregiver is unfit to give this dog the care and attention it needs. Therefore the dog has known nothing but abuse, both from the owner and the caregiver. Money was invested to train him on a shock collar, the dog ended up shaking and crying at being shocked for no reason. Luigi needs a home with a calm assertive pack leader, and a place where he can do what his breed is meant to do, chase away wild boars! Luigi has never attacked women, the aggression is solely towards men, and he has snapped at a couple of men, caught them at the pant but never really bitten, if he was really that aggressive as the caregiver and friends might claim, he would have tore the room where he is kept captive in a second, and taken an arm or a leg of the caregiver. PLEASE PLEASE HELP him out, I would take him but we already have three dogs in a small apartment! Call 502-767-5339.

Road to progress

Yesterday Mexico City approved a law that would redefine “marriage” to the union between two people. Not a day has gone by, and the good Cardinal Norberto Rivera has already made a big deal about it. He is claiming that the law is an “immoral law”. I believe that a lot of us, educated, progressive people, would agree that this is just pure hypocrisy. Please, Cardinal, please!
To make matters worse, it is also his opinion that allowing same-sex couples to adopt could produce “psychological and moral damages” to children, and again I ask again, Señor where have you been? You want to come and tell me that a family that can provide a loving, caring, and healthy environment to these kids is bad for them? I say to you, what about all those children of heterosexual couples that have to work selling newspapers, washing cars or playing clown, or throwing fire in the streets to make money for their parents’ addictions. Where are you Sir? Where are your declarations against these events? Events that need no researching and no theology to realize that these events truly harm children. Tell me, Cardinal Norberto Rivera, where are the fathers and the mothers, couples of heterosexual marriages, of the young people who live under the highways abusing substances. With all due respect, Cardinal, educate yourself! It is time, Sir, that you and your Church stop turning your eyes away, and stop the hypocrisy, because let us not go to the immorality of the priests that abuse children, that I’m sure you will be quick to blame their homosexual tendencies, when indeed Sir it is not a matter of tendencies, it is a matter of a mental disorder called pedophilia.
So Cardinal Norberto Rivera, please be the man of progress that Mexico needs, be the man of love to whom all of your Christian and Catholic population can turn to when they are in need of moral support and faith. Be, Sir, an exemplary man, and please leave the same old same old story. We are tired Sir, you can no longer come and tell us about the many sins and the punishments of God. No Cardinal, because we are ok, and you too Sir needs to be ok.
With all due respect, I again ask you to abstain from making statements that are not parallel to your teachings. Clean your heart, Cardinal Rivera, clean your mind; open your heart and more importantly open your mind. This world, especially Mexico, has had enough of looking for somebody to blame, enough of pointing fingers, of being in the road to nowhere. We need leaders, we need to live in harmony, in harmony like Solomon wrote:

1 How good and pleasant it is
when brothers live together in unity!
2 It is like precious oil poured on the head,
running down on the beard,
running down on Aaron's beard,
down upon the collar of his robes.
3 It is as if the dew of Hermon
were falling on Mount Zion.
For there the LORD bestows his blessing,
even life forevermore. (Psalm 133)

Lead! Cardinal Rivera, lead!

Y baja hasta el borde de sus vestiduras;
3 Como el rocío de Hermón,
Que desciende sobre los montes de Sion;
Porque allí envía Jehová bendición,
Y vida eterna. (Salmos, 133)

¡Guie!, Señor Cardenal, ¡guie!

Florida Woman's Rape Called A "Pre-Existing Condition" By Insurance Companies

Florida Woman's Rape Called A "Pre-Existing Condition" By Insurance Companies

Posted using ShareThis

Catholic Bishops: Gays, Condoms, Divorce Undermining Marriage :: EDGE on the Net

Catholic Bishops: Gays, Condoms, Divorce Undermining Marriage :: EDGE on the Net

Shared via AddThis

I say you first clean up your own house and then comment on other people's lives! All in all I see your points of view, and I do agree not to dwell on the extremes, yet as I see the news this is what people are preaching. It was these kinds of lies that gained votes for the passing of Prop 8. Unfortunately as the russian article read, Americans indeed have been dumbed down. The knowledge you possess about financial statistcs and probability are definitely far away from the minds of the average American.

So what emails like these intend to do try to quickly reach those people who might go by in life basing their actions in here says. I would love for those Americans who you see yelling at the townhall meetings that they want the America back to back their answers in facts as you have done rather than just making demonstrations in public that show they are just very much apprehensive to change. I would really want to know if these people are actually being taken care with their HMO's as they should. I am a firm believer of a competitive market, yet the circumstances are not prone for a market to be sucessful, there are many failures to the principles of what makes a market successful, starting with the improper distribution of information or lack thereof. Simple economics.

On the other hand, yes it seems like government might be moving to fast in trying to accomplish what France, England and Canada have accomplished in years. Yet this perceived rapid change is such because nothing has been done for so long. The question to you would be, what is the ideal pace for change? I believe this reform should be taken as it is, an attempt to improve things. People's lives can change in 2 or 3 years, "it ain't gonna be pretty" but people are adaptable and will manage to adapt to their sorrounding environment and circumstances.

As for your comment "This will lead to a huge waste in money" please are we really going to go there?

Reduction of options wise, I understand this view when it comes to the argument of less competition, yet really how much options are there available as of right now? Please correct me if I'm wrong, but all I know is people who currently have insurance are limited by their private insurers to the network of doctors they are allowed to see in order to get coverage. Please expand my knowledge and share with me how this gives people more options.

Truth be told, there needs to be a shift in people's foci, moreso those doctors who are in disagreement with health care reform. I believe the opposition stems from an inward focus rather than an outward focus. Opposition doctors, and again I might need to be corrected, are in disagreement mostly it seems because their pockets size would be regulated by the government. To me this thought is quite alarming, for I believe doctors enter their profession as a result of their drive to care for others, and their desire to improve the lives of those in need. Again this is probably me just speaking from experience after seeing the years of hard work and dedication from my grandfather solely driven by his desire to serve humanity. It would be strange to see him shift his focus from serving the people to serving himself.

With all this said, please proceed to enhance my knowledge on the topic.

From: Allison Wight Maffitt <amaffitt@gmail.com>
To: Cristina Gonzalez <cga_uofl@yahoo.com>
Sent: Wednesday, August 12, 2009 9:45:49 AM
Subject: Re: Fw: Top five lies

Never go with extremes. No one is dumb enough to believe 1, 3, and 4. The other two are open to interpretation. No one can say without certainty that this will or won't be an astronomical financial failure. Honestly there are stats that support both sides of the equation. My personal opinion is that this bill in it's current state will not be as cost effective as many want us to believe. Plain and simple, the economics don't make sense. The second "lie" is also up for debate. What will happen is the government "plan" will regulate everyone else, not mandate, etc but regulate them. Over time the competition will dwindle because it won't make sense to continue in business. So effectively there will be fewer "options."

Here are a few questions I have for you...

Pg 102, Lines 12-18: Medicaid eligible individuals will be automatically enrolled in Medicaid.

Pg 124, Lines 24-25: No company can sue the government for price fixing. No "judicial review" for rates.

Pg. 203--Lines 14/15: "The tax imposed under this section shall not be treated as a tax." wtf (this is part of how there will be no new taxes on the middle class...it's just called something different)

Pg. 195 Officers & Employees of the Health Choices Administration will have access to all American's financial/personal records.

Pg. 317-318, Lines 21-25, 1-3: "Prohibition of expansion of facility capacity." So basically the government will tell hospitals if they can/cannot expand.

Here are my favs:

Pg 425, Lines 4-12: Government mandates (key word) advance care planning consultation. Mandatory at 65 and every 5 yrs after.

Lines 22-25, Pg 426, 1-3: Government provides approved list of end-of-life resources.

Pg 427, Lines 15-24: Government mandates programs for orders for end-of-life.

Long story short this comes down to the basic, do you want more government control or less government control in your life. Obviously you can figure out where I stand on the issue. I think there needs to be changes to the system, but I don't think the government has the right to essentially cut out the competition (HMOs, etc) and tell the patient and doctors what can/cannot be treated and where/when it can be. The other huge thing to me is that a gigantic new agency will have to be created. All in all this will cost billions and will be unsustainable over the long run. Look at medicare, it was supposed to cost $9 billion dollars annually...forever. That is not the case, and that was only aimed at a small percentage of the population. I am very apprihensive about the direction the country is going in because we are trying to make changes that took decades in Europe and Canada in a matter of years. There will be a massive swing in public desires, which will swing the government back to the republicans. Then a lot of the policies will either be disregarded or dramatically changed. This will lead to a huge waste in money. Few people realize the importance of time. You cannot change 300 million plus people's way of life in 2-3 years. I hope I am wrong, but I have been dead on with the first year of Obama's presidency so far (looking at both Congress and the President's actions, along with public perception...you can ask holly). Only time will tell.

I hear there is a big futbol game today?

On Tue, Aug 11, 2009 at 7:40 PM, Cristina Gonzalez <cga_uofl@yahoo.com> wrote:

----- Forwarded Message ----
From: "Nita Chaudhary, MoveOn.org Political Action" <moveon-help@list.moveon.org>
To: Cristina Gonzalez <cga_uofl@yahoo.com>
Sent: Tuesday, August 11, 2009 4:09:48 PM
Subject: Top five lies

Dear MoveOn member,
The health care fight has turned ugly, fast. Reform legislation includes a provision, supported by the AARP, to offer senior citizens access to a professional medical counselor who will provide them with information on preparing a living will and other issues facing older Americans.5

Lie #2: Democrats are going to outlaw private insurance and force you into a government plan!!!

The truth: With reform, choices will increase, not decrease. Obama's reform plans will create a health insurance exchange, a one-stop shopping marketplace for affordable, high-quality insurance options.6 Included in the exchange is the public health insurance option—a nationwide plan with a broad network of providers—that will operate alongside private insurance companies, injectingcompetition into the market to drive quality up and costs down.7

If you're happy with your coverage and doctors, you can keep them.8 But the new public plan will expand choices to millions of businesses or individuals who choose to opt into it, including many who simply can't afford health care now.

Lie #3: President Obama wants to implement Soviet-style rationing!!!

The truth: Health care reform will expand access to high-quality health insurance, and give individuals, families, and businesses more choices for coverage. Right now, big corporations decide whether to give you coverage, what doctors you get to see, and whether a particular procedure or medicine is covered—that is rationed care.
